DETECTIVES investigating an organised crime gang in north Dublin have raided a solicitors' and accountants' office as well as a garage in a wave of planned searches across the capital.

Several homes were also among the nine locations targeted in the operation focused on a Finglas-based gang involved in drug smuggling into Ireland.

A top-of-the range Audi A7 TDi – thought be worth up to €40,000 – and a bag of cash with €60,000 in bank notes were seized.

Documents and mobile phones were also recovered.

The raids on Thursday, spearheaded by the Criminal Assets Bureau, focused on nine locations including Finglas, Howth, Terenure and the city centre.

No arrests were made in what gardai are calling an evidence-gathering phase of their investigation.
