Video: Co Tyrone PSNI stop and search film attracts one million views in 24 hours

A FACEBOOK video of a PSNI stop and search operation in Co Tyrone has attracted almost one million views in just 24 hours.

The seven-minute clip was posted online by fitness expert Aaron Lambo after he was stopped by officers as he walked outside Omagh PSNI station.

During an exchange with three officers the English man said he had been on the phone with his daughter as he walked past the station.

Mr Lambo told officers he had “no previous for drugs” and demanded to know the grounds for the search operation.

One officer replied that he was being searched under PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Order) legislation.

Another officer later told him he “had been spotted outside” the police station prompting the fitness instructor to claim he was working at a gym which is close to the barracks.

It is believed he has returned to England.

During the exchange the frustrated Englishman claimed he had not committed a criminal offence and had no guns, weapons or drugs in his possession.

After initially refusing to allow the officers to search him, Mr Lambo eventually relented and one officer carried out a search.

However, the incident threatened to boil over when an officer then demanded that the Englishman remove a sweater provoking an angry response.

“You aren’t taking my top off, are you mad?” he said.

Posting on his Facebook page Mr Lambo later said: “I was on the phone doing face time with my daughter as it's her birthday today but apparently it's considered a threat to use you phone outside a police station in N.Ireland.

“Now they wanted to search me, in the end I let them but I draw the line with taking my top off in the street!! ”

This weekend’s encounter is not the first he has had with police officers in recent months.

In September he posted footage of an encounter with English police officers who were trying to seize his new car from outside his home, which attracted 2.8 million views.
