TWO men have been arrested after an altercation in north Belfast.
It is understood several men were involved in the incident in the Kinnaird Street area of New Lodge on Friday night.
A 31-year-old was later detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an article with a blade or point in public place.
Both men were later released on bail pending further police enquiries.
One man received minor injuries as a result of the altercation.
Sinn Féin councillor JJ Magee said recent trouble in the area had “caused serious distress to residents and there is a need for the PSNI to act to bring those responsible before the courts”.
"I will be meeting residents and statutory agencies as soon as possible to support a resolution to these problems and great efforts have been made in recent nights to tackle what has been a series of threats and intimidation by the small number of individuals at the core of these disturbances,” he said.
"People have the right to live in peace free from such activity and measures must be taken to protect local families from those intent on disrupting this community.”
