WEST Belfast MP Paul Maskey last night urged people in the area to "engage fully with the GAA" regarding plans for Casement Park.

The Sinn Féin politician said the new-look stadium could "play a key role in the regeneration of west Belfast".

"Earlier this week I welcomed an announcement from the GAA on the next phase of the Casement Park development," he said.

"The proposed multi-million pound development at Casement is an exciting opportunity for the GAA, its supporters, local businesses and the community and can play a key role in the regeneration of west Belfast.

"There will be opportunities for residents, businesses, GAA supporters and all those who have an interest in Casement Park to have their voices heard.

"I urge everyone including a number of residents opposed to the plan to grasp the opportunity to engage fully with the GAA and the development team on the plans for a new stadium at Casement Park."
