TWO men had a narrow escape in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, October 29) when the flat they were staying in was targeted in a suspected arson attack.

The men escaped through an upstairs window after the blaze broke out around 1.50am at the flat in the Broombeg area of the town.

Detective Sergeant Wallace from the PSNI appealed for information.

"The report of a fire was received at around 1.50am on Saturday morning. Damage was caused to the front door and stairwell of the flat by the fire which we believe at this time to have been started deliberately. Two adults who were in the property at the time escaped unharmed through an upstairs window."

I would appeal for anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference number 117 29/10/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
