Suspect sought over 'theft of venetian blind' hidden very badly in coat

When you think of all the great heists in movies and history, what do you think of? Bank robberies, diamond snatching and art stealing are all obvious choices, so you’d be forgiven if the theft of a singular venetian blind didn’t spring immediately to mind.

But that’s exactly what allegedly went missing from a Dunelm Mill store in Nene Valley Retail Park, Northampton.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to following the alleged theft, and yep – it very much looks like he was attempting to make a quick getaway by stuffing the venetian blind down his trouser leg and up his jacket and into his hood. Smooth.

Northamptonshire Police said the suspect entered the store on Sunday afternoon and left without paying for the blind. Security guards followed him to a nearby canal path, where a man dropped the blind, damaging it, before making off.

We have so many unanswered questions – why a venetian blind? Why try to conceal it in such an obvious way? Only time will tell.

Now we’re no master criminals, but we daresay this isn’t the perfect crime.
