Police appeal for information on Westlink death

POLICE investigating the death of teenager Nathan Richie who fell from a bridge over the Westlink have appealed for anyone with information who may have seen the 19-year-old prior to the fall to contact them.

Mr Ritchie died after falling from a bridge at Divis Street on Thursday September 29, shortly before 10pm.

Originally from north Down, the teenager had been living in Belfast before his death.

PSNI Inspector McCullough said: "We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw Nathan in the period before the incident. If you saw him either in the vicinity of the Divis Street Bridge or in the surrounding area prior to this, please get in touch.

"He was wearing black Nike trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms, a Mackenzie track top and a blue Regatta hooded lightweight waterproof jacket.”

"Police are also keen to trace the driver of a black jeep/people carrier type vehicle which may have been on the Westlink at the time of the incident and may be able to assist in enquiries.

"If you can help, contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 1379 of 29 September".
