A 13-YEAR-OLD Dublin boy killed in a Motocross accident in Co Derry was struck by a bike driven by his older brother after he crashed, it has emerged.

Daniel “Dano” Sheridan was airlifted to Altnagelvin hospital in Derry following the motocross track accident at Magilligan on Thursday but died from his injuries.

The teenager’s funeral took place at St Anne’s Church in Dublin yesterday.

A member of one of best known families in Irish motocross circles, the 13-year-old was a frequent visitor to the Magilligan facility and was enjoying a late summer trip with his mother and brother when tragedy struck.

It has now been revealed that after he fell of his own bike he was hit by a bike driven by his 18 year-old brother brother Jake.

"There was nothing I could do, it was like a bad dream," Jake told Radio Ulster.

“Me and Dano were out practising; we went up for the day. It was a beautiful day; it’s a way of life for me. I love racing bikes and so did Dano.

“We were going to work that day and just unfortunately in the second moto me and Dano had a crash. Dano, he was there and just passed away,” he said.

The Dublin man said he was still in shock after the accident. He said he was very close to his brother and both raced bikes in England.

“For something to happen like that was just so unexpected; there was nothing I could say and there was nothing I could do,” he said.
