Man charged after £120k herbal cannabis seizure in Co Tyrone

A MAN is to appear in court on Monday morning after herbal cannabis worth an estimated £120,000 was seized in Co Tyrone.

The 23-year-old is to appear at Omagh Magistrates Court following the search of a vehicle on Great Northern Road in the town.

The man has been charged with a number of drug related offences including possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, conspiracy to supply a class A drug and encouraging or assisting an offence.

Officers from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch made the arrest after stopping a car in the town on Friday afternoon.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure said a second substance was also recovered.

"The arrest follows an incident on Friday when shortly before 3pm, police stopped and searched a vehicle on the Great Northern Road.

"Approximately £120,000 of suspected herbal Cannabis as well as approximately 13kg of suspected cutting agent for class A drugs were seized."

Police carried out a number of house searches in Derry on Friday evening following the seizure.

A small amount of suspected herbal cannabis and a mobile phone were seized.

"Our investigation is at an early stage," Detective Inspector McClure said.

We continue our efforts to keep people safe by removing drugs from the streets and arresting anyone suspected of involvement in their supply.

"I appeal to anyone who has any concerns or information about illegal drugs to contact their local police on the non-emergency number 101.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with several drugs offences following the search of a house in the Dundonald area of east Belfast on Friday.

The man is to appear at Newtownards Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 22 charged with the attempted possession of a Class A controlled drug and possessing a class B controlled drug with intent to supply.
