A WOMAN found dead in a house in Co Derry has been named locally as Aisling Newland.

The 36-year-old mother of six children, was found dead at a house in Edenmore Park in Limavady on Tuesday evening.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out, but it is understood that police are not treating the death as suspicious.

It is believed that Ms Newland was originally from Co Donegal and moved back to Limavady after living in the Waterside area of Derry for several years.

In September last year Ms Newland was given a 12 month probation order at Limavady Magistrates Court after phoning police and falsely claiming she had been assaulted, with officers concluding that she had been hoping to "get a lift home."

DUP councillor James McCorkell, the deputy mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, said the sudden death was a shock to the community but added he was relieved that the death did not appear to be suspicious.

"No matter who this young woman was, she was someone's daughter and a mother and I offer my condolences to her family at this time."
