TRIBUTES have been paid to former Fermanagh Ulster Unionist councillor Jean McVitty, who has died.

Well known in the county she was a former member of Fermanagh District Council, chair of Lisnaskea Chamber of Commerce and a member of Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership.

Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP Tom Elliot praised on his former colleague on Tuesday night describing her as "a committed community activist".

Ulster Unionist Party Chairman, Lord Reg Empey, said Ms McVitty will be missed.

“She represented the community fearlessly and without favour. She will be a loss to Unionism in County Fermanagh.”
