TWO young Lithuanian men who were targeted in a hate attack in Larne are considering leaving the area, an MLA has said.

A front window was smashed and racist graffiti was painted on the pair's home on Herbert Avenue in the Co Antrim town at around 1am yesterday.

The windows of a car parked outside the house were also broken.

Police are treating the attack as a hate crime.

East Antrim DUP MLA Gordon Lyons said the men were "very good tenants" who had been praised by neighbours and their landlord.

He condemned the "totally unprovoked attack" on the men, who both work in Larne.

"Nobody should have racist graffiti daubed on the walls of their home and the windows of their car and home smashed," he said.

"It is a completely appalling act.

“There can be no doubt that this attack had a sole purpose to intimidate innocent people in our community, however this type of behaviour has no place here."

He urged anyone with information to contact police on 101.
