THE largest contemporary art cash prize in Ireland and a chance to exhibit in the north's leading arts venue is up for grabs in the MAC International 2016.

The award offers professional artists across the world the opportunity to exhibit at the MAC theatre in Belfast as well as a prize fund of £20,000 for the overall winner, one of the most significant prizes in the UK.

A shortlist of 18 artists from across the world has been announced, including Ulster University photography lecturer Frederic Huska and their work, which includes painting, photography and installation will be showcased across all three MAC galleries from October 27 under February 19, 2017

The shortlisted artists from countries including Brazil, Iceland, France, the US, the UK and Northern Ireland, now have three months to prepare their artworks for the upcoming exhibition which will be judged by a jury of international curators.

The winner of the £20,000 MAC International Ulster Bank prize will be announced at the opening ceremony on October 27, 2016.
