AN arts group in west Belfast has said it was not responsible for an advertising slogan which was unveiled on the Black Mountain.

In a message posted on its Facebook page, Gael Force Art said it had "nothing to do" with writing advertising TABU, taken to be a reference to the Saturday night promotion in the El Divino nightclub in the city centre.

Gael Force Art has placed numerous messages on the mountain, including being involved in a tribute to the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster in April.

In 2012 the republican group objected to a visit by the Queen with the slogan "Erin is our queen" with a tricolour below while the following year it opposed the holding of the G8 summit in the north.

The group said: "Just to notify people that the writing on the mountain has nothing to do with Gael Force Art and is nothing more than just commercial advertising.

"Gael Force Art does not support such adverts on the mountain which is clearly for business profit.

"The objectives of Gael Force Art are to highlight human rights issues and injustices whether they are local, national or international to give a voice to politically disenfranchised people who are oppressed."

El Divino did not respond to a request for comment.
