Bible backs Brexit claims Free Presbyterian preacher David McMillan
A FREE Presbyterian minister believes Christians should vote for a Brexit – because it says so in the Bible.
According to Rev David McMillan, scripture dating from around 500 BC deals quite extensively with the European Union and its role in the rise of the Anti-Christ.
Writing in Saturday's News Letter, the Free Presbyterian preacher said it was prophesied in the Bible that "this union of nations would bring to a close 'the Times of the Gentiles'(the end of the world)".
The ancient scriptures also refer to a revival of the Roman Empire, "which will cover the same area around the Mediterranean Sea".
Rev McMillan first quotes the Book of Daniel: "When it reaches its final formation it will be divided into ten regions."; then Revelations: "It will ultimately become the Kingdom of the Anti-Christ and only those who take his mark will be able to buy or sell."
Ultimately, the Bible forecasts the destruction of the EU and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
For Rev McMillan this leaves God's followers with little choice but to vote for a Brexit.
"In light of all that the Lord has revealed to us about the future of Europe, we believe this is something of which no Christian would want to be part," he said.
