A PLAQUE to honour Easter Rising leader Joseph Mary Plunkett was unveiled in Dublin yesterday.

Plunkett's grandniece and Dublin Lord Mayor Criona Ni Dhalaigh unveiled the plaque at 26 Upper Fitzwilliam Street - the Irish Republican Brotherhood member's childhood home.

A journalist and poet, Plunkett was executed on May 4 1916 at the age of 28 for his part in the Rising. He married his childhood sweetheart Grace Gifford just hours before his execution by firing squad.
