CHART topping girl band Little Mix are to perform their two cancelled Belfast shows in July.

The four-piece girl band issued another apology to disappointed fans last night after the last-minute shock cancellation of their gigs at the SSE Arena on Thursday.

The group was forced to cancel the two 'Get Weird Tour' shows just minutes before the doors were due to open after band member Jesy Nelson fell ill.

The band had played to a sell-out crowd in Dublin the previous night.

Thousands of excited fans who had queued for hours outside the SSE for the first matinee show were left heartbroken.

The annoucement came via speaker-phone at the venue leaving many young children distraught and in tears.

Parents described their disappointment at the cancellation which came months after boy band One Direction similarly cancelled a Belfast show at the last minute.

It had been thought that Little Mix would announce the details of rescheduled gigs later on Thursday after telling fans to hold on to their tickets and await further information.

However it was late yesterday afternoon that Aiken Promotions informed fans that the concerts would now go ahead on Saturday July 2.

The dates will co-incide with the summer holidays.

"There will be a matinee and evening performance on this date. All existing tickets are valid for the new concerts," it said.

"For anyone not able to attend the rescheduled Shows on Saturday 2 July, please contact point of purchase for detail of how to obtain a refund.

"Little Mix apologise again to their fans for the unavoidable cancellations yesterday."

Disappointed fans and their mums:

The girl band had played the 3ARena in Dublin on Wednesday night, with reports that Jesy had broke down on stage during the show.

The singer reportedly told fans 'I'm so emotional' while struggling to contain her tears.

After she tried to compose herself, Jesy's bandmates could be seen rushing to comfort her, before she said: "I don't know what's wrong with me!"

Meanwhile, the band are set to resume their tour tonight in Sheffield.

There were doubts surrounding the group taking to the stage at the Sheffield Arena following the cancellation in Belfast.

However, the venue has confirmed the show is due to go ahead as planned.
