CANNABIS worth a total of £400,000 has been seized in two separate searches in Belfast and Antrim.

A 33-year-old man and a woman in her thirties were arrested on suspicion of several drugs offences and money laundering.

They were being questioned on Friday night.

The first cannabis find, worth £200,000, was made after police stopped a car on the M2 at around midday on Friday. The 33-year-old man was then arrested.

Police also searched properties on Shore Road in Belfast and in Newtownards, Co Down.

A further £200,000 of cannabis was seized in Antrim. Police are investigating possible links between the two seizures.

Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop said police discovered the drugs following a tip-off from the public.

"The seizures are a great example of how easy it can be when the public report their suspicions to us," he said.

"I am confident of further arrests.

"We are aware of the threat posed by illegal drugs and are determined to use every opportunity to take controlled drugs off the streets and bring anyone involved in their sale, supply or distribution before the courts."

He appealed to anyone with information about drug dealing to contact police.
