THREE police officers were injured following a high speed pursuit in north Belfast.

The officers were injured following the incident that started after a car failed to stop for police on the Shankill Road at around lunchtime on Monday.

Police pursued the car at high speed before the driver crashed into an armoured police vehicle in Salisbury Avenue, off the Antrim Road.

A third vehicle, unconnected to the chase, was also damaged in the crash.

Insp Michael White said the car was "pursued by a trained PSNI pursuit driver" after it failed to stop for officers before it collided with the Land Rover and another car in Salisbury Avenue.

Two policemen and a policewoman who were in the Land Rover when the crash happened sustained minor injuries.

The 35-year-old man who was driving the car was arrested at the scene.
