AN Aston Martin DB10 made for the James Bond film Spectre has sold for more than £2.4 million at auction.

The car was designed and engineered especially for the latest Bond movie, and is the only DB10 to be released for public sale. It also has a special plaque signed by 007 actor Daniel Craig.

A total of £2,785,500 was raised at a Christie's charity auction of the Spectre memorabilia, with the lion's share coming from the £2,434,500 car sale – even though it was only expected to go for £1 million to £1.5 million.

Bond's Day of the Dead costume, which was worn by Craig during the dramatic opening sequence, sold for £98,500.

A Spectre ring – the nine carat solid gold ring worn by Christoph Waltz to play Bond villain Oberhauser – raised £32,500.

Among the 10 lots sold at the auction were watches worn by Craig as 007 and Ralph Fiennes as M, a final script from the movie, and singer Sam Smith's signed sheet music for Writing's On The Wall.

Proceeds from the auction will go to Medecins Sans Frontieres, the United Nations Mine Action Service, and other charities.

Comedy actor David Walliams supported the auction as a special guest to help auctioneer Hugh Edmeades.

Bids flooded in from 25 countries across four continents for the live auction, with all lots going to anonymous buyers.

A further online-only auction on the Christies website, titled James Bond Spectre: Online, will remain open until Tuesday at 3pm.

This includes Q's personalised laptop used by Ben Whishaw, a clapperboard signed by Craig, and bad guy Hinx's metal thumbnails which were made for Dave Bautista.
