AN Orange hall in Co Tyrone has been attacked for a second time in as many days.

In the first incident, five windows including door panels were smashed at Strawletterdallon Orange hall near Newtownstewart.

The damage was discovered at the hall on Plumbridge Road on Wednesday night but is thought to have been carried out during the previous evening.

PSNI Inspector David McIlwaine said the damage was caused to the rear of the building.

And the Orange Order said further windows were damaged in a second attack on Thursday at about 7pm.

Police are treating the vandalism as a sectarian hate crime.

The Orange Order described those responsible as "mindless thugs intent on causing community division".

"This was an act of wanton vandalism with the clear intention to cause damage and destruction to Orange property," a spokesman said.

"However, the culprits are actually harming the wider community and groups who use the hall as a social hub and meeting place."

Nine Orange halls were attacked during 2015, the Orange Order said.

The Strawletterdallon hall was also targeted in 2011 in an attempted arson attack, sustaining scorch damage.

Police appealed for anyone with information to contact officers on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
