LOYALIST campaigner Willie Frazer has claimed that "Fenian-looking" people are taking photos and videos of his home.

In a video message 'liked' by more than 300 people on his Facebook page, Mr Frazer addressed those who he claims have been lurking outside his house in Markethill, Co Armagh.

He said: "We know who is snaking about. You are that obvious and that stupid and that Fenian-looking that you can't be hid when you are in the area. We know who you are and so do the security forces."

The controversial victims campaigner, who has been the subject of attacks at his home in recent years, told The Irish News he "got a wee bit carried away" and that "Fenian" referred to republicans and not Catholics.

He said: "I shouldn't have used the term in that way. I should have just used the word 'scum' instead. As far as I am aware Fenian refers to a gaelic warrior so I am actually praising them. I was giving them credit where it wasn't justified.

"I got a wee bit carried away but when you have got people driving about photographing your home it is upsetting."

He added: "I understand that in the Northern Ireland context it can be understood that way (as a derogatory term for Catholics) but I am referring to republicans."

Asked what constituted "Fenian-looking", he said: "Put it this way, if you put an ordinary Catholic and a republican in a room, you could tell the difference. My mother could have told the difference between an ordinary decent Catholic and a republican.

"They have that look of bitterness and hatred, that look of evil in their eyes. I am not taking the mickey when I say that. I can see the bitterness."

A car was burnt out in Mr Frazer's driveway in an arson attack in 2013 and last year he received medical treatment after an alleged assault outside his home.

In his video message Mr Frazer said: "To the boys who have been down videoing around the house and taking photographs, you were identified. You haven't even got the brains when you are doing this to do it properly.

"If you are going to run around people's houses targeting them don't be surprised if you come back again and the bucket of a digger ends up sitting on the roof of your car."

The victims campaigner spoke to The Irish News from London, where he was attending a commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the IRA's bombing of Canary Wharf.

He said: "I wanted to send the message that not all that comes out of south Armagh is bad."
