THE Stormont executive has agreed to allocate Treasury funds of £1.3million to flood alleviation projects.

The projects will be managed by the new Department of Infrastructure, which will oversee both the Rivers Agency and Transport NI when Stormont's departments are restructured after May's assembly election.

The executive also agreed for an emergency compensation scheme to be opened for businesses and farmers affected by recent flooding.

The details of the scheme will be developed by the finance minister and minister of agriculture and rural development, in consultation with the environment minister.
