Rory McIlroy on Forbes Most Influential Europeans list
Rory McIlroy has been named among the 30 most influential young Europeans in the entertainment industry.
In the first 30 Under 30 Europe list, compiled by US magazine Forbes, Ireland has three people in the entertainment category.
The golfer (26), from Holywood in Co Down, has won four majors, including the US PGA twice and the British and US Opens.
He has said he wants to be the best player of his generation.
Also representing Ireland in the Forbes list is Brooklyn actress Saoirse Ronan. She has been nominated for an Oscar for the tale of a young Irishwoman in New York.
Co Wicklow-born singer and songwriter Hozier is also singled out.
McIlroy has been credited with sparking worldwide interest in Northern Ireland golf. The Open Championship is due to be held at Royal Portrush in 2019.
The Forbes list entries were vetted by TV personality Kelly Osbourne, athlete and philanthropist Dame Kelly Holmes and PR guru Alan Edwards.
Those listed have been recognised for their game-changing leadership, disruption of their field, and likelihood of changing the entertainment industry in the next half century.
The full list features 300 young innovators and entrepreneurs from across 10 categories, including the arts, industry and technology.
Randall Lane, editor of Forbes, said: "Researching, vetting and launching our first ever 30 Under 30 Europe list was an incredible task.
"We scoured the continent to find the most talented millennials and, with the help of our expert judges, are proud to honour 300 of the most important young entrepreneurs, creative leaders and brightest stars in Europe right now."
