A JUDGE has ordered the release of a north Belfast teenager facing paramilitary charges after he was accused of breaching his bail conditions.

Conal Corbett, from Ardoyne, was arrested on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old is under curfew and is not allowed to leave his home between 8pm and 7am.

He is required to wear an electronic tag which detects and monitors his movements.

Mr Corbett was arrested as part of an investigation into the discovery of an ‘IRA’ remote controlled bomb in Ardoyne earlier this year which failed to explode.

He is accused of having articles that could be used for paramilitary-related purposes including a mobile phone and top-up voucher and having handwritten instructions on operating an assault riffle which was allegedly found inside a doorbell ringer at his flat.

During a short hearing at Belfast magistrates Court on Friday his solicitor Ciarán Shiels disputed PSNI claims that Mr Corbett had breached his curfew on Thursday.

However, the court heard that claims of a previous breach in November were accepted.

A judge ordered Mr Corbett to be released "with a warning that any further breaches" will lead to him being remanded in custody.
