A FORMER basketball coach and Fianna Fáil activist pleaded guilty yesterday to indecently assaulting 10 boys.

Bill Kenneally, who was a tallyman for Fianna Fáil, pleaded guilty to the charges at Waterford Circuit Court.

The crimes happened in Waterford in the 1980s, when Kenneally lived in Summerville Avenue in the city.

The former coach had faced more than 70 charges relating to indecent assaults in the 1970s and 1980s.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to the sample charges, with one charge relating to each of the ten victims, who were boys at the time.

Kenneally was arrested in 2013 following a Garda investigation.

Sentencing has been set aside for February 17 and February 18.

Kenneally was remanded on bail until January 12.
