A Co Tyrone woman has spoken of her joy after she was reunited with her beloved pet, which turned up safe and well in England two months after being stolen from her garden.

Jane Connolly said she was "over the moon" to learn that Paris, her lost French bulldog puppy, had been found in London at the weekend.

The Omagh woman had taken to Facebook to share news of the theft of Paris in September and soon, her posts were being widely shared by her fellow social-networkers. News of Paris's disappearance was also shared on lost dog websites.

Two months on, Ms Connolly received a phone call from the Metropolitan Police to say a dog matching Paris' description had been found tied to a post in London.

The Omagh mother told the Ulster Herald that she "burst out crying because I was 99 per cent sure the dog they were describing was Paris".

"I was over the moon with joy," she said.

After being told she only had seven days to travel to Slough in England to prove Paris was her missing pet before she was was sent to the dog pound, Ms Connolly quickly jumped on the earliest flight to retrieve her.

"I would have went to the end of the world and back to get her," she said.

"I knew it would be a long journey for me but I didn't care. I was just so happy to finally have her again.

"The police did such a good job but they would never have known about Paris had it not been for all the shared Facebook posts and internet coverage".

Ms Connolly said Paris, though "slightly smelly", was in good health following her ordeal.

"It's just a miracle. I've never prayed so much in my life," she said.

"People think that Paris is just a dog and that she can be replaced. But she was like a wee baby to me. She'll certainly be getting spoiled now".
