A GANG of masked men ransacked a bedroom and stole money from an elderly woman during a burglary in north Belfast.

Around 7pm on Wednesday, a group of men entered a house in Downview Mews, telling the pensioner they were looking for drugs.

The lady, who is in her seventies, was not injured but a sum of money was stolen.

The men ransacked a bedroom before making off in the direction of Donegall Park Avenue. They are described as being in their twenties and thirties and were wearing jeans and dark clothing.

In a separate robbery in north Belfast on Wednesday, a business in Clifton Street was robbed at around 5.10pm.

A man made off with a sum of cash after threatening staff by keeping a hand in his pocket and claiming he was carrying a weapon.
