Stormont staff to go under voluntary exit scheme

THE assembly is to shed nearly two dozen jobs under the Stormont executive's civil service voluntary exit scheme.

Four senior management posts are among those being axed at the end of next month as part of a four-year plan to reduce the size of the north's public sector.

A total of 83 Assembly Commission staff applied for the voluntary exit scheme, which alongside similar civil service redundancy measures will be funded through a £700m loan from the Treasury.

In all 22 assembly jobs will be lost from an overall workforce of 352.

The posts being shed also include seven middle/lower management roles and 11 non-management grades.
