WHAT do you get when you cross a caravan with a bar? A pioneering Co Tyrone man has come up with the answer – the 'baravan'.

Civil engineer Mark Mooney, from Dungannon, has converted an old caravan into a mobile Irish pub to provide thirsty punters with freshly pulled pints on the go.

Featuring working bar taps, a cosy stove and walls dressed with antiques, the Dungloe Baravan aims to showcase the traditional Irish pub in a compact and portable setting.

Mr Mooney (25) said he was inspired after creating a makeshift pub in a mobile holiday home while on a weekend away with friends in Mullaghmore, Co Sligo.

"The thought of having this more often was appealing and sparked the idea of a vintage Irish mobile pub," the former senior footballer for Edendork GAA club said.

Mr Mooney, who works in Dublin, created the mobile pub from an old Lunar caravan and hopes it will be used at social occasions across the country from birthdays to weddings and engagement parties.

It is named after the Gaeltacht town of Dungloe in Co Donegal and was created within three months with the help of tradesmen and friends.
