Public vote to decide community space to be redeveloped

MEMBERS of the public are to be given the chance to select their favourite community space for redevelopment with lottery funding.

Three areas - including Belfast, Derry and Coleraine - have been shortlisted and the winning project will receive £120,000 in funding to transform their area with native wild flowers.

The Belfast City Council proposal for a "City of Wildflowers" will see wild flowers planted at different locations across the city.

The Flowers of Foyle, meanwhile, would see a “river” of wild flowers flowing from the Creggan Country Park to the River Foyle and across the iconic Peace Bridge.

In Coleraine, the Cornfield Project aims to transform land between the Millburn and Ballysally estates by building outdoor classrooms and allotments.

Votes can be registered at voteni.growwilduk.com or by using the freephone numbers until November 1.
