Sky presenter Eamonn Holmes has revealed that he once threatened to break the arm of singing mega-star Rihanna’s burly bodyguard.
The Belfast-born personality yesterday told RTÉ’s Ryan Tubridy that former Partridge Family singer/actor David Cassidy and Hollywood romcom queen Meg Ryan were near the top of his list of worst interviewees.
However, he gave top spot to chart-topping singer Rihanna, saying she was a “nightmare”, before revealing that he had once been thumped on the arm by her minder.
“I like to speak to people in the green room before the show. I went out and said ‘Hello Rihanna, my name is Eamonn and I’ll be doing the interview’.
“I got a thump on my arm and I looked around… There is this big burly guy standing beside her and he said, ‘Heh, you wanna talk to Miss Rihanna you do it through me,' and he points his fingers at his eyes like ‘look at me’.
“I said, ‘I’m really, really sorry. I didn’t realise you were on the programme.’ And he looked at me puzzlingly and went, ‘I’m not on the programme!’,” Holmes revealed.
The father-of-four told how he then warned the bodyguard that he would “break your arm and shove it up your a***” if he attempted to touch him again.
The presenter also revealed to Tubridy that Irish talk shows were the best because they supply guests with booze in the green room.
“People have a couple of drinks and it chills them out. Irish talk shows are the best in the world as they are so relaxed,” Holmes said.
