A 1971 Jaguar once owned by George Best is to go up for sale in England next month.

The E-type was bought new and belonged to the soccer star for three years.

It was also the car Best used to drive away from Manchester United following an argument with the club's management.

Nicknamed 'El Beatle', he bought it in 1971 and drove it regularly.

He sold it after he was dropped from Manchester United following a row with then manager Tommy Docherty.

The navy blue Jaguar will go up for sale at H&H’s Duxford Auction on October 14 at the Imperial War Museum outside Cambridge.

It is expected to fetch between £40,000 and £60,000.

Best, from east Belfast, died in London in 2005 at the age of 59 following a long battle with alcoholism.
