A 29-year-old sex offender is on the run from Magilligan jail after he failed to return from home leave.
John Patrick Smyth, who went on the run from the Co Derry prison on Monday, has a lengthy criminal record, the Prison Service said.
The sex offender has convictions for gross indecency with or towards a child, rape, aggravated assault, being armed with offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and threats to kill.
The Prison Service said Smyth is also a drug user.
Smyth is 1.7m tall, with blue eyes and brown hair. He has several distinguishing marks including tattoos on his hands and lower arms.
Anyone with information about Smyth's whereabouts is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
