ANTRIM GAA has appealed to supporters to donate unwanted clothing to help in the refugee relief effort.

There will be donation points set up at the two senior hurling championship semi-finals in Loughguile and Dunloy and also at the minor football finals in Ahoghill.

GAA gear or other clothes can be put in bags and left at the collection points at the venues today and tomorrow.

Joe Edwards, county vice-chairman, said: "In times of need it is incumbent on us to come together and give assistance to those less fortunate.

"This is one such time. There are thousands of people in need through no fault of their own.

"The GAA are renowned to be an organisation that rallies together in times of need.

"Here in Antrim we recognise that many of our members donate financially to groups.

"We would ask all those attending our games this weekend to donate GAA gear that will be used to help clothe the refugees."

The collected clothing will be given to aid organisations who are working directly with the refugees.
