Five Dundrum businesses targeted in sectarian attacks

BRICKS were thrown through the windows of five businesses in sectarian attacks in a Co Down village yesterday.

The five businesses on Main Street in Dundrum were attacked at about 3.30am.

The front window of each business was smashed in the attack.

Police said initial investigations "indicate that these incidents are hate motivated".

They appealed to anyone who was on Main Street yesterday morning and who saw anything to contact officers.

SDLP assembly member Margaret Ritchie said she "unreservedly condemned" the attacks.

"They are totally unwarranted within our community," she said.

"These attacks will be rejected by the people of Dundrum and further afield.

"Those responsible should be apprehended."
