Herbal cannabis destined for Northern Ireland seized

HERBAL cannabis destined for Northern Ireland worth £100,000 has been seized in a joint PSNI and National Crime Agency (NCA) operation.

Three houses have been searched in Lisburn, Belfast and Antrim were searched in connection with the seizure by detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch in partnership with NCA officers.

One man has been interviewed in connection with the seizure and has been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Patrick Mullan of the PSNI Organised Crime Branch appealed for further information.

"The importation of illegal drugs causes significant harm within communities, he said.

"Whilst I welcome the fact that these drugs have been taken off our streets, I continue to appeal to members of the public to come forward with any information about the supply or use of illegal drugs. Anyone with any information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
