THE annual Belfast Pride parade takes place on Saturday with motorists advised to expect delays.

Large numbers of people are expected to attend the parade through the city centre, which is in its 25th year.

The build-up begins at 11am while the event itself is expected to begin at noon.

The parade will leave Queen’s Square, travel along High Street, Bridge Street, Waring Street, Donegall Street, Royal Avenue to Donegall Place. 

The march will then proceed along Donegall Square North, Donegall Square East, Donegall Square South, Howard Street, Upper Queen Street, Queen Street, Castle Street, Castle Place, move along High Street again before returning to Queen’s Square for dispersal at approximately 1.30pm.

The 2015 Belfast Pride Festival will feature more than 80 events over 10 days that aim to showcase the creativity, history and culture of Belfast's LGBT community. The theme for this year's festival is 25 Years Building Equality. It's Time. 

Police are to implement several 'rolling road closures' to facilitate the parade's progress. 

Road users should expect traffic delays and are advised to avoid the city centre if possible.
