Motorway resurfacing to begin

A £400,000 scheme to resurface the M2 foreshore motorway in Belfast is to begin on Thursday.

Work will be carried out between the junction at York Street and the junction with Fortwilliam Roundabout.

Preliminary work will begin on Thursday and Friday evening, when the M3 westbound and the M2 northbound will be closed overnight.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays and have been advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

There will be several lane closures between Saturday August 1 and Monday August 3 and Saturday August 8 and Monday August 10.

Transport minister Danny Kennedy said: "This £400,000 improvement scheme represents a significant investment in the strategic road network. The improvements will deliver long term benefits for drivers using this busy stretch of road".
