The Sunday Game presenter Michael Lyster made a welcome return to the anchor's chair yesterday with a joke that there was more life in him than on the pitch.

The popular presenter was rushed to hospital last month after suffering a heart attack following a day out playing golf in Portumna.

He had hinted at a return when he visited the RTE studio in Thurles last week. Joe Brolly tweeted a photo of Lyster in conversation with panellists Pat Spillane and Colm O'Rourke ahead of the Munster hurling final.

The Galway native was joined in the studio yesterday by O'Rourke, Spillane and Ciaran Whelan for RTE's coverage for the Ulster and Connacht football finals.

Lyster joked that he was livelier than the action in the Connacht final between Mayo and Sligo.

"People are asking me if I'm feeling OK, there's more life in me than there is out on that pitch," he said.
