A HIGH-profile online blogger is facing legal action from the DUP following allegations made over the Nama scandal.

The Irish News has chosen not to identify the well-known loyalist blogger who made a series of allegations in an online blog because we are unable to substantiate the claims.

In a message circulated to the media late on Monday night, the DUP warned that anyone who repeated or referred to the claims through social media would also face legal proceedings.

Its stance suggests the libel threat could extend to more than 1,000 online users who have shared the blog, which has so far been viewed by more than 20,000 people.

The loyalist posted a message from the DUP warning that he would be the subject of legal instructions beginning yesterday morning.

However it is understood that the matter has so far not come before courts and no legal writs have yet been issued to the blogger in question.

The loyalist blogger involved has so far refused to remove or retract the unsubstantiated claims and has indicated he intends to make further allegations in the coming days.
