AN object which sparked a security alert in south Belfast yesterday was not suspicious, police said last night.
The object was found in a residential area on the lower Ormeau Road yesterday afternoon.
A number of houses were evacuated during the alert while the object was examined.
Army bomb disposal officers were called to deal with the object and the road was closed between Stranmillis embankment and University Street.
There were widespread delays and Translink said its Metro 7 services were diverted. The road re-opened yesterday evening.
