Seaside town hit by severe flooding

Torrential rain caused flash floods and road closures in parts of Ballycastle yesterday.

Some residents of the Co Antrim seaside town following heavy downpours, a road was closed after becoming unstable following subsidence.

The PSNI were forced to close Ballyvolley Road in Ballycastle due to the collapse of a bridge and subsidence that left the road surface in a dangerous condition.

Motorists were told to seek an alternative route, the road is expected to remain closed for several days.

There was severe flooding at properties at Fairhill Street and emergency services delivered sandbags to a number of properties.

The popular Marine Hotel in the town had problems with flooding in the car park
