A FOURTH man questioned about an attempted bomb attack on a police officer in Co Derry has been released without charge.

The 27-year-old was arrested in Eglinton on Thursday night by PSNI officers probing the discovery of a device under the policeman's car.

The bomb was discovered at Glenrandel in Eglinton in the early hours of Thursday and 15 houses were evacuated.

The officer and his wife are both members of the PSNI.

Three men were arrested by gardai near Ballybofey on Thursday morning, but were all released without charge the following day.

The fourth man was released by the PSNI without charge on Saturday.

Police described the attack as a "clear attempt to murder" officers.

While no group has claimed responsibility, it is believed it was carried out by the group calling itself the 'IRA'.
