GUESTS at Karol Dolan and Kirsty Gormley's wedding could be forgiven for thinking they were hit with a spell of double-vision.

That's because the Co Tyrone newlyweds both have identical twins.

And if guests were confused, spare a thought for the photographer who had to take extra care when snapping the big day.

As the couple exchanged vows, alongside them were Karol's twin brother Caolan as best man and Kirsty's twin sister Stacey as a bridesmaid.

Matching suits for the groomsmen and bridesmaids dressed in white and may have added to the double trouble.

The beaming couple tied the knot on Saturday at St Mary's Church, Aughabrack with a reception at Harvey's Point, Donegal.

Karol, of Aghyaran near Castlederg, is 10 minutes younger than twin Caolan. They celebrated their 29th birthdays yesterday.

Kirsty (28), from Aughabrack near Plumbridge, is an English tutor – while her twin Stacey is a maths tutor.

Joiner Karol said people were "shocked" when they first became a couple and realised they both had identical twins.

He also admitted that when they first got together he had difficulty telling Kirsty apart from her twin.

"I know the difference, but for a while I had bother. I never knew but as we got older there were different things I noticed," he said.

The pair "hit it off" after a night out in Cookstown in October 2010 when Karol offered Kirsty a lift home.

But the couple already knew each other because Karol works with Kirsty's father Patrick Gormley.

"He didn't say much to me but I think he was happy enough because he always liked me and thought I was sensible," Karol said.

Following a three-year romance Karol popped the question during a weekend break in Liverpool.

"We went out for a meal and I organised for the hotel when we came back to have the room decorated with candles – she was shocked," he said.

The couple had a three-tier wedding cake with flowers separating the tiers, and Karol engraved a heart design in a log for a cake stand.

Karol said that he and Kirsty both having identical twins made their wedding day "more special", while Kirsty admitted she would find it strange with two 'other halves'.

"It's funny because when people say to me, 'Oh, is this your other half?' I don't necessarily think of Karol – I would think of Stacey," she said.

Karol's twin brother Caolan, an engineer with BT, married in March and Karol was his best man.

He recalled how a barman mistook him for the groom and offered him a free coffee the morning after the wedding.

Kirsty said: "Girls can make themselves look different with hair and make-up but if you had Caolan and Karol sitting with their backs towards you, you would definitely find it hard to tell the difference."

Ahead of the wedding she told the Ulster Herald that their twins would be a key part of their big day.

"On the day it's usually all about the bride and groom, but to us our twins are equally as important," she said.

"There is just a special bond between us. We have done everything together – we know we've always had each other."
