FRAUDSTER Julia Holmes is expected to be quietly cremated after authorities in the Republic after they failed to find any relative willing to take responsibility for arranging her funeral.

The badly decomposed remains of the 63-year-old con woman along with those of her partner Thomas Ruttle (56) were discovered after thieves broke into their farmhouse near Askeaton in Co Limerick last month.

The burglars alerted garda who now believe the couple died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a suicide pact after it became public that Tyrone-born Holmes was wanted by the PSNI on fraud charges and prison sentences in Northern Ireland and the United States.

Mr Ruttle, who is believed to have played no role in Holmess crimes, was buried beside his parents Nellie and Billy in a Church of Ireland graveyard in Askeaton on Wednesday.

However, the Ruttle family and Holmess estranged relatives in the north have refused to have anything to have any involvement in organising a funeral for her.

Her body remains unclaimed in the morgue at University Hospital Limerick with HSE sources yesterday confirming that no arrangements had been finalised.

It is more than likely that she will be cremated, the sources said.

It is expected that Holmes, who had numerous fraud convictions and used dozens of aliases, will be cremated with no members of the public present.
