IT'S not every day that one of the world's top golfers photobombs you, but that's exactly what happened to deputy first minister Martin McGuinness yesterday.

Just minutes after American golfer Rickie Fowler entertained the crowds at Royal County Down, the 26 year-old had to jostle the media's attention away from the Sinn Féin minister.

After completing the course, Fowler had dutifully made his way to the media centre where golfers hold a press conference to take questions from journalists on their day's play.

Instead of fighting past the crowds of reporters, photographers and camera crews who wanted to speak to him, Fowler had to try and get past Mr McGuinness who was also holding a press conference in the centre.

Appearing to not know who the Sinn Féin minister was, Fowler stood behind him at the top table before taking a seat.

It wasn't long then before Mr McGuinness realised the significance of the player standing behind him, waiting patiently to begin his press conference, and quickly he moved out of the golfer's way.
