Alleged flasher 'forgot to button up', court heard

A MAN accused of flashing at two women in a hospital had forgot to button his trousers after visiting the toilet, a court heard yesterday.

Edward Crozier, who is in his fifties, was remanded into custody charged with two counts of indecent exposure and allegedly making a threat to kill a police officer.

He appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday after he was arrested at the city's Royal Victoria Hospital early on Sunday morning.

Police opposed bail by claiming he could re-offend.

A PSNI constable said Crozier, of College Green in Belfast, had been in the accident and emergency department and "exposed himself to two females in the waiting area".

Defence counsel Jonathan Connolly told the court his client denied the offences, including allegedly threatening to kill a police officer.

Mr Connolly added: "He would say there was no intention in terms of any exposure.

"My instructions are he had to use the toilet as he said he was feeling unwell.

"He came out again and didn't realise he wasn't buttoned up."

But refusing bail, District Judge Ken Nixon cited the risk of re-offending.

Crozier was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link on June 22.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, Belfast Magistrates' Court heard that a man carried out a sex act in public after getting the idea during a cannabis-smoking session.

Czech national Vojtech Kralik was arrested on Saturday after he was seen masturbating in an east Belfast park, a judge was told.

The 23-year-old, with an address at Inverary Avenue in the city, faced a charge of indecent behaviour.

A police officer said Kralik made full admissions during interviews.

"He stated that he had smoked cannabis earlier and simply acted on the idea when it came into his head," the officer added.

Defence solicitor Hamill Clawson confirmed the defendant was not contesting the allegation.

Ordering pre-sentence reports, Judge Nixon released Kralik on bail to return to court on June 22.
