A FORMER church is to be converted into a hospitality training academy with the help of a grant.

Belfast Buildings Trust has received £100,000 to assist its work on Carlisle Memorial Church in north Belfast, which has been derelict for three decades.

The trust plans to work alongside the Horatio Group to open a hospitality academy on the site within five years.

The grant was made by LandAid, a charity which is supported by the property industry and funds building projects.

It is the first time in its history that a grant has been given to a project in the north.
