A CO Tyrone singer has been nominated in four categories of the prestigious Emmy Awards in the United States.

Eamonn McCrystal, who is originally from Cookstown, last night described his delight that his show 'The Music of Northern Ireland' had been recognised.

The pop tenor was the host and co-producer of the show, which was recorded in the Grand Opera House in Belfast last year and featured hit songs written in Northern Ireland.

The concert also showcased the north's beautiful landscapes including the Giant's Causeway and the cliffs on the Antrim coast.

The show was nominated in four nominations which include, overall arts/entertainment, director-live or recorded live, musical arrangements and on-camera talent/performer.

The Emmy awards are due to take place in Detroit on June 13.

McCrystal, who is now based in Los Angeles, last night said the show was "very close to my heart".

"What a great way to start the day," he said.

"I am so proud of the entire team who all worked so hard on this project.

"I cannot believe we received four nominations. Thank you God for another blessing.

"The Music of Northern Ireland is a project very close to my heart and a story that needed to be told - I’m thrilled that the academy honoured us with these nominations - it really is unbelievable."
